Help map the mountains.
Have a GPS track from a climb, summit attempt, or mountain approach? Share your expedition data to help Summitryx visualize mountain routes in three dimensions and preserve their history.
GPX tracks and route submissions
No account or website upload is required. We currently accept inquiries by email from adults 18 or older. For privacy, first send the mountain, route and a brief description without attaching the raw GPX file. We can discuss a suitable file-handling method before you share sensitive location history.
Use gpxreview@summitryx.com for all GPX inquiries and, after we confirm the submission process, GPX file attachments. Send general website questions, bug reports and non-GPX correspondence to routes@summitryx.com. These mailboxes are managed separately.
GPX attachments are treated as private review material, not automatic permission to publish. We will request separate written approval before any cleaned route or contributor attribution is displayed publicly. Read the privacy and GPX policy first →
Email GPX review (no attachment yet) ↗General questions? Email routes@summitryx.com. Please do not send raw GPX files to this general inbox.
What to include
- Initially, just the mountain, route name and a brief non-sensitive description
- Approximate recording year and whether you recorded the route yourself
- Confirmation you are an adult (18+) and have permission to share the material
- When requested, a .gpx file with unnecessary personal metadata and private locations already removed
- Your preferred attribution, discussed separately before publication
Before you share
- Do not send other people’s private tracks or children’s location histories.
- Remove home, hotel, private campsites, timestamps, names, email addresses, heart-rate data and device metadata where not essential.
- Even a stripped track may still reveal a person’s movements. Never assume it is anonymous.
- We evaluate raw files privately, keep them out of public GitHub and do not automatically publish them.
- Separate written approval is required for the exact route derivative and attribution before any public release.
