For education and inspiration only — not climbing instruction or field navigation. Mountaineering involves risk of serious injury or death. Do not attempt dangerous snow, ice, avalanche, rope or glacier techniques based on an illustration, photograph or description. Seek qualified hands-on instruction and verify current conditions. Read Safety & Responsible Use.

Photo and illustration notes. Curated photographic candidates are selected for relevance, linked to their Wikimedia Commons source, and screened for reuse-eligible licensing when loaded. Some may be temporarily unavailable or lack compatible license metadata. If we cannot verify a meaningful match, a generic mountain image clearly states “Image coming soon.” Photographic thumbnails may be cropped for display. Terrain features and equipment can differ from these examples. Route positions, camp names, avalanche conditions, rescue procedures, and equipment setup require current sources, professional instruction, and on-site judgment. Medical entries are brief explanations, not a diagnosis or treatment guide.
